The Bureau of the Conference of Heads of Government met in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands on 10-11 January 2002 and considered the current political situation in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Members of the Bureau expressed the concern felt throughout the Community at the present situation and were anxious to see a return to normalcy in that key Community Member State. They also felt that the Community owes it to the people of Trinidad and Tobago and to the wider Caribbean Community as well, to do whatever lies within its capacity to help bring about that normalcy.

After consultation with Dr. the Hon. Kenny D. Anthony, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia and Head of Government with responsibility for Justice and Governance in the Community, the Bureau decided, that subject to the concurrence of the Parties, that the Rt. Hon. Hubert Ingraham, Prime Minister of The Bahamas and Member of the Bureau, accompanied by the Secretary-General of the Community, will meet with President A.N.R Robinson, Prime Minister Manning and former Prime Minister Panday, at an early date, in order to determine in what ways the Community could be of assistance to Trinidad and Tobago at this time.
