CARICOM Secretary-General Dr. Carla Barnett held discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, H.E. Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio Mapy on Thursday 19 March, in the margins of the First CELAC-Africa High-Level Forum in Bogotá, Colombia.
Their discussions centered around regional collaboration across Africa, the Caribbean and South America; efforts to strengthen democracy, peace and development; South-South cooperation; climate change and environmental challenges; economic and trade issues; and the multidimensional situation in Haiti, including support for stabilisation efforts and the holding of constitutional elections.
While in Colombia, Dr Barnett also participated in a panel discussion, in a session themed “Forum on Historical Reparations: Perspectives from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.” The panel is part of the First CELAC-Africa High-Level Forum. Dr Barnett also engaged in a bilateral meeting with the Vice President of Colombia, H. E. Francia Marquez Mina. The Secretary-General will participate in the Tenth Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) on 21 March 2026.
