CARICOM congratulates US President-elect

Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica has congratulated President-elect of the United States of America, Mr. Donald Trump on his victory in last Tuesday’s Presidential elections.

The CARICOM Chairman extended best wishes to Mr. Trump for a successful tenure and said he would welcome the opportunity to engage at the earliest opportunity.

Mr. Skerrit noted the Region’s long standing, mutually beneficial relationship with the US and said the Heads of Government and People of the Community look forward to continuing the friendly relations under the incoming administration.

Mr. Trump, the Republican party candidate, defeated the Democratic party’s Hillary Clinton in Tuesday’s poll.

“As Chairman of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), I extend on behalf of the Governments and People of the Community, sincerest congratulations to the President-elect of the United States of America, Mr. Donald J. Trump following his victory after a hard-fought election campaign.

The Caribbean Community enjoys a long-standing, friendly and mutually beneficial relationship with the United States of America, a relationship which has endured over the years despite the various changes of administration that are part and parcel of the democratic process.  The Heads of Government and People of the Community look forward to the continuation of these friendly relations under the incoming administration.
