CARICOM Election Observation Mission to The Bahamas conducts stakeholder engagements ahead of poll

(Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) – Ahead of the 12 May 2026 General Election in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, the CARICOM Election Observation Mission (CEOM) conducted stakeholder engagements as part of its assessment of the pre‑election environment and electoral preparations.

CARICOM Election Observation Mission meeting with Mr. Harrison Thompson, Parliamentary Commissioner, and members of the Parliamentary Registration Department.

Meetings were held with representatives of election administration, law enforcement, political leadership, youth stakeholders, and the Commonwealth Election Observation Mission.

CARICOM Election Observation Mission meeting with Ms. Ashanta Ramsey, Mr. Liam Miller, Ms. Tezel Lightbourne, and Mr. Andre Kelly, youth stakeholders in The Bahamas.

These consultations form part of the Mission’s impartial assessment of the pre-election environment and preparations for the upcoming polls.

CARICOM Election Observation Mission meeting with the former Prime Minister of The Bahamas, Honourable Dr. Hubert Minnis, and his campaign advisor.

The twelve-member CEOM is led by Mr. Herman St. Helen, Chief Elections Officer of Saint Lucia, and was deployed following an invitation from the Governor-General of The Bahamas.
