Swedish Ambassador to CARICOM pays courtesy call on PM Harris

Basseterre, St. Kitts –  Sweden’s Ambassador to CARICOM, His Excellency Claes Hammer, paid a courtesy call on St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris on Monday, 9 March at his office at Government Headquarters.

Ambassador Hammer presented Prime Minister Harris with a congratulatory letter from his Government. Discussions were held on the way forward towards greater cooperation between Sweden and St. Kitts and Nevis. Ambassador Hammer was accompanied by resident Honourary Consul for Sweden, Kathleen Allen-Ferdinand.

Commenting on the visit, Prime Minister Harris stated, “Sweden is a leader in innovation, technology, communication and renewable energy and all of these areas are critical to building sustainable small island states.  St. Kitts and Nevis will continue to seek mutual partnerships with countries such as Sweden that can help us to achieve our national development goals.”

Sweden is listed as a development partner of the Caribbean Development Fund (CDF) managed by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), and is a member state of the European Union (EU). (St Kitts and Nevis Information Service)
