CARIFORUM DG urges training participants to use what they have learnt in their jobs

Director General of CARIFORUM Mr. Percival Marie has urged participants on a training course that was conducted for implementers of EDF funded projects to utilize the training they have received in their everyday jobs.

Mr. Marie was speaking at the closing ceremony of a 10-day training programme for projects funded by the European Development Fund . The programme concluded on Wednesday, October 9, 2018, at the Grand Coastal Hotel in Georgetown Guyana.

In his remarks, the Director General said he hoped the participants had fun during the training since learning ought not to be painful but a fun experience that could be rewarding. He said he hoped that the training opened the participants’ thirst for more information on project design and other topics covered during the course. He also said that the course was conducted because CARIFORUM thought it was important that the persons at the national level, who were responsible for various aspects of implementing CARIFORUM projects and programmes, received training.

Programme Manager Crime and Security at CARICOM Sherwin Toyne-Stephens, in giving the vote of thanks at the closing, expressed gratitude to the European Union for funding the training course and gave the assurance that it was money well spent. He also said that the course provided a rich experience for participants. He said he looked forward to further networking and following up with the course facilitators and participants. He added that it was a great opportunity to finally put faces to the names of persons with whom prior interactions had only been via email.

The trainees were presented with certificates at the end of the course. The Training Programme was funded by the European Union, under the Technical Cooperation Facility of the 10th EDF Wider Caribbean Cooperation Programme.
