Grenada seeking to overhaul electoral system

ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada, CMC – Grenada is examining the possibility of establishing an Elections Boundaries Commission as it seeks to overhaul its electoral system, a senior government official has said.
Parliamentary Secretary for Information in the Office of the Prime Minister, Winston Garraway, said the pledge by the   Organization of American States (OAS) to provide financial and technical could be used by St. George’s to establish the commission as part of the  overhaul of the current administrative structure of the Parliament Elections Office.
“For example, under the current structure the Parliamentary Elections Office falls under the responsibility of the Governor General and the person in charge is the supervisor of election. I believe that once the necessary study and consultation is done, that title will be done away it,” said Garraway.
