Youth Leaders To Present Their Vision For The Future On Panel Discussion

Four dynamic young people from St. Kitts and Nevis will share their thoughts on where they envision the Federation in the next five to ten years and the path to that goal during a panel discussion on Thursday (September 17).

“Independence Perspective ‘Quo Vadis’ [2015 Onward]” is the theme for the special programme which airs on ZIZ Television at 8 p.m. The panelists are Kimi-Lee Knight – Most Outstanding Performance in May-June 2014 CSEC examinations; Rol-J Williams – a World Learning Youth Ambassador; Camara Lee – member of the Nevis National Youth Council; and Elroy Williams – youth leader. CARICOM Youth Ambassador for St. Kitts and Nevis, Joy Napier, will moderate.

“They will be analyzing the current situation in St. Kitts and Nevis, looking at areas that young people are interested in and what makes young people feel that they are truly independent,” explained Sonia Boddie, the panel’s coordinator.

Topics expected to be covered in the 1 hour and 30 minute broadcast include crime and violence, education, culture, tourism and general policy initiatives that government, private sector and members of civil society can pursue to empower nationals and enhance economic growth.

The panelists have reportedly been preparing for quite a while and are excited at the opportunity to expound the point of view of the youth population.

“These are young persons who are passionate about youth work and youth empowerment,” Ms. Boddie said, while encouraging persons to tune in to the panel discussion. It’s that type of passion that officials say is reflected in the 2015 Independence theme “United in Building a Stronger Nation.”
