On behalf of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), I offer warmest congratulations to the Government and People of Belize on the occasion of your 35th Anniversary of Independence.

Prime Minister, in those three and a half decades, your country’s development has been impressive, a reflection of the commitment, pride and resolve of the Belizean people.  That spirit resonates with your aptly chosen theme for this year’s celebrations – “Sovereign and Strong-Together As One”.

That strength and togetherness will serve to ensure that Belize continues on its path to sustainable development and an ever greater quality of life.

The Community continues to be highly appreciative, Prime Minister, of your guidance in matters pertaining to Justice and Governance which fall under your responsibility in our quasi-cabinet.  This work has served to strengthen the foundation of our integration movement and is testimony to Belize’s commitment to CARICOM.

May the Government and people of Belize enjoy their celebrations marking this important milestone in their history.”
