Trinidad and Chile hold bilateral on margins of CARICOM Heads meeting

Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Dr. the Honourable Keith Rowley, met with Her Excellency Verónica Michelle Bachelet Jeria, President of the Republic of Chile, on the margins of the Thirty-seventh Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) on the morning of July 5th, 2016.

Dr, Rowley was accompanied by Senator the Honourable Dennis Moses, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and Mr. Colin James, Foreign Service Officer III, International Relations and Protocol Unit, Office of the Prime Minister.

President Bachelet Jeria in her turn was accompanied by H.E. Heraldo Muñoz Valenzuela, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Haiti, and H.E. Fernando Schmidt Ariztía, Ambassador of Chile to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

President Bachelet Jeria extended condolence to Prime Minister Rowley and the people of Trinidad and Tobago on the passing of Mr. Patrick Manning, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
The two leaders spoke for approximately thirty minutes on issues ranging from collaboration in bilateral and multi-lateral fora, as well as collaboration and the exchange of information and technology in the fields of energy, disaster-preparedness, the teaching of the Spanish language, and transparency in the public sector. The two further discussed the possibility of code-sharing between Caribbean Airlines Limited and LATAM Airlines Chile, formerly LAN Airlines S.A.
