Suriname’s Federation of Visual Artists call on CARICOM SG

Members of the Federation of Visual Artists (FVAs) in Suriname paid a courtesy call on Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretary General, Amb. Irwin LaRocque, on 21 April at the Georgetown-based Community headquarters. The  FVAs were wrapping up a three day Suriname Art Expo, held at the Umana Yana  part of an exchange programme, between Suriname and Guyana.

At the opening  of the event last Wednesday, Assistant Secretary General, Trade and Economic Integration at the CARICOM Secretariat, Mr. Joseph Cox acknowledged the role of culture in promoting social cohesion and inclusiveness, creating wealth and reducing poverty; all strategic outputs of the Community’s Strategic Plan . He congratulated the artists for showcasing their art within the Region and thanked them for their commitment in supporting regional integration.
