Elections Day in Jamaica

Jamaicans vote today in General Elections which are a straight fight between the incumbent Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) of Prime Minister Mr Andrew Holness and the opposition People’s National Party (PNP) led by Dr. Peter Phillips.

One hundred and thirty nine (139) candidates, including 13 independents, will contents the elections for the sixty-three (63) seats at stake.  The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) says there are 1,913,410 registered electors.

The last elections, held on 25 February 2016 saw the JLP taking 32 seats with the remaining 31 seats going to the PNP led then by Ms Portia Simpson Miller.
