CARICOM toasts The Bahamas on 43rd Independence anniversary

The Caribbean Community has extended congratulations to The Bahamas on the occasion of its 43rd anniversary of Independence celebrated on 10 July, 2016.

In a message to Prime Minister  the Right Hon. Perry Christie, CARICOM Secretary-General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque said that The Bahamas was a valued member of the Community. He also praised The Bahamas for its socio-economic, democratic and political accomplishments

It is my pleasure on behalf of the Caribbean Community to extend congratulations to the Government and People of The Bahamas as they celebrate Forty-Three years of Independence.

On this day, Bahamians at home and in the Diaspora commemorate the historic moment of the birth of their nation as a sovereign state, even as they look forward to the continued consolidation and growth of their country.

We in the Caribbean Community congratulate the Government and People of The Bahamas on their socio-economic, democratic and political accomplishments to date.

As the Caribbean Community, of which The Bahamas is a valued member, works towards the well-being of all its people, it is pleased to count on and contribute to the efforts of your nation to forge a positive and productive way forward despite the many challenges that assail the wider global community and small states in particular.

In this regard, CARICOM acknowledges the leadership provided by the Prime Minister of The Bahamas in his capacity as Lead Head within the CARICOM Quasi Cabinet for a most critical regional growth sector- Tourism.

The Caribbean Community raises a toast to The Bahamas on this festive occasion and extends best wishes to its Government and People for ever brighter tomorrows.
