CARICOM SG Extends Best Wishes to Barbados on 56th Independence Anniversary

CARICOM joins the government and people of Barbados in celebrating the country’s fifty-sixth anniversary of independence on 30 November.

“The strides Barbados has made since Independence have sustained its pursuit of progress and prosperity. As the People of Barbados unite under the theme “Come, Celebrate Barbados” we are reminded of the country’s significant contribution as a founding Member of the Caribbean Community,” Secretary-General, Dr. Carla Barnett said in a congratulatory message to Barbados Prime Minister the Hon. Mia Mottley.

“Honourable Prime Minister,

On behalf of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), I wish to convey congratulations and best wishes to the Government and People of Barbados on the occasion of the Fifty-Sixth Anniversary of your country’s Independence.

The strides Barbados has made since Independence have sustained its pursuit of progress and prosperity. As the People of Barbados unite under the theme “Come, Celebrate Barbados” we are reminded of the country’s significant contribution as a founding Member of the Caribbean Community.

Barbados remains a consistent and dedicated advocate for regional integration, particularly in advancing the CARICOM Single Market and Economy, for which you, Prime Minister, have the lead responsibility in the Quasi-Cabinet of the Heads of Government. The Community looks forward to your continued active engagement in the realisation of the Community’s integration objectives.

Prime Minister, CARICOM joins the Government and People of Barbados in celebrating this Fifty-Sixth Anniversary of Independence and extends best wishes for the continued advancement of Barbados and the well-being of its People.”
