CARICOM joins St. Vincent and the Grenadines in celebrating its 43rd Independence Anniversary

CARICOM Secretary-General, Dr. Carla Barnett, has extended congratulations and best wishes to the government and people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines on the occasion of that country’s forty-third independence anniversary on 27 October.

“We join in celebrating St. Vincent and the Grenadines under the most apt theme: “Our Resilience, Our Fortitude, Our People”. All three elements have enabled the country to emerge triumphantly from the perils posed by the recent volcanic eruption. This was further evidence of the strength of character of a people who have made valuable contributions in a wide range of areas globally,” the Secretary-General said in a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Ralph Gonsalves.

Please see the Secretary-General’s message below:

“Honourable Prime Minister

On behalf of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), it is my pleasure to extend congratulations and best wishes to the Government and People of St. Vincent and the Grenadines on the occasion of the Forty-Third Anniversary of your country as an independent nation.

We join in celebrating St. Vincent and the Grenadines under the most apt theme: “Our Resilience, Our Fortitude, Our People”.  All three elements have enabled the country to emerge triumphantly from the perils posed by the recent volcanic eruption. This was further evidence of the strength of character of a people who have made valuable contributions in a wide range of areas globally.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines remains a consistent and dedicated advocate for regional integration, particularly in striving to advance the Region’s transportation sector for which you, Prime Minister, have the lead responsibility in the Quasi-Cabinet of the Heads of Government.

Honourable Prime Minister, as you celebrate your island’s independence this year, there is much about which the country can be proud.  CARICOM is pleased to celebrate with the Government and People of St. Vincent and the Grenadines on the Forty-Third Anniversary of Independence.”
