St. Lucia to host regional telecommunications conference

CASTRIES, St. Lucia Mar 13, CMC – St. Lucia will this week host a telecommunications conference that will attract delegates from across the globe.

During International Communications Technology Week from March 14-18 – heads of Regional and International Organizations, Ministers, Commissioners of Police, Attorneys General, Directors of Public Prosecution, ICT Personnel will among other things, agree on a regional approach to Cyber Security.

Other objectives will include the development of a comprehensive regional Action Plan; to obtain Ministerial Support for and commitment to the Action Plan; and to identify financing to implement it.

Coming out of the Cyber Security and Cybercrime meeting, delegates would be hoping for clear action plans and a commitment from international organizations, donor countries and development agencies to support the implementation of these plans.

The 32nd Executive Council (EC32) of the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) and the Caribbean Stakeholders’ Meeting ll: Cyber Security and Cybercrime (CSM ll) will be among the main activities of the week.

Another activity is a workshop on ICT for persons with disabilities – this will take place on Monday.
ICT Week is a collaboration between the Government of St Lucia and Caribbean Telecommunications Union.
