“The CARICOM Secretariat recognises that sustaining resilience across the Region begins with safeguarding well-being within our own organisation. Supporting colleagues, promoting psychological safety, and fostering a culture of empathy and care strengthen our collective capacity to respond effectively in times of uncertainty.”

This year’s observance of World Mental Health Day, under the theme “Prioritising Mental Well-Being in Times of Crisis,” is particularly relevant to our Caribbean reality. The Region continues to grapple with the far-reaching effects of natural disasters, economic shocks, and public health emergencies, events that not only test our systems but also weigh heavily on the emotional and psychological well-being of our people. In fact, according to the World Health Organisation, one in five people affected by such emergencies will experience a mental health condition.
The CARICOM Secretariat recognises that sustaining resilience across the Region begins with safeguarding well-being within our own organisation. Supporting colleagues, promoting psychological safety, and fostering a culture of empathy and care strengthen our collective capacity to respond effectively in times of uncertainty.
In reaffirming this commitment, we underscore a simple yet profound truth: our ability to lead and serve depends on the health, physical, mental, and emotional well-being of our people.
Together, let us continue to advance a Caribbean Community where well-being is valued, protected, and sustained.
