TRINIDAD-ADVISORY-TT government says it is committed to safety of visitors

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – The Trinidad and Tobago government says it remains committed to the safety of all visitors to the country as it responded to a travel advisory issued by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). The FCO in a travel advisory warned British nationals visiting the twin island republic to be wary of “a high level of gang related violent crime in Trinidad, particularly in the inner city neighbourhoods east of Port of Spain’s city centre, Laventille, Morvant and Barataria”. The FCO has also advised that this gang-related violence “tends to occur within local communities but can sometimes affect visitors.”
