Sustainable development high on Caribbean’s agenda for annual UN debate

UNITED NATIONS, CMC – The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) annual general debate begins here on Tuesday with Caribbean Community (CARICOM) leaders among the international political personalities expected to address the global body.
The Caribbean has indicated it would use the forum to raise a number of issues pertinent to the region, including reparation for the slave trade, the environment including the impact of climate change, the global economic crisis as well as sustainable development.
Newly-appointed Grenada Ambassador to the United Nations, Dr. Dennis Antoine, said CARICOM leaders, foreign ministers and diplomats would be following the so-called “development agenda” and “how the region hopes to benefit from it.
