Statement of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) on the Draft UN Security Council Resolution on Haiti

At the Twenty-Fourth Special Meeting of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR), CARICOM Ministers received an update on the status of the draft resolution put forward by the United States of America and Panama for the transition of the Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission to a Gang Suppression Force (GSF) and the establishment of a UN Support Office in Haiti.

They expressed support for the initiative to enhance security support to Haiti, and called on the members of the Security Council to support the draft resolution when it is tabled for adoption.

The COFCOR believes the resolution is a critical step towards providing much-needed relief and a sense of normalcy for the people of Haiti.
