Caracas, October 15, 2015. – The city of Kingston, capital of Jamaica, will host today the “Seminar on Financing and Guarantees to support SMEs in the Caribbean”, organized by the Permanent Secretariat of Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), which seeks to advance the establishment and consolidation of security systems, created to facilitate access to credit for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), that contribute to the development and production management of the SMEs.
The SELA seminar takes from October 15 until 16th, it aims to analyze the pre-feasibility of creating a guarantee mechanism for SMEs in the Caribbean, promoting the incorporation of national and sub regional financial institutions, to support the establishment of Regional Guarantee System.
Participants included government representatives meet to SMEs in the Member States of SELA, agencies of the Caribbean region, as well as officials of financial, business institutions and experts in the field of Caribbean countries, whose contributions enrich the contents of a pre-feasibility study conducted by SELA, on the implementation of that regional financial instrument.
The Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), is a regional intergovernmental organization, based in Caracas, Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, composed of 27 Latin American and the Caribbean. It was established in 1975, on the initiative of Venezuela and Mexico, in order to coordinate common positions among its member states, and promote cooperation and joint economic and social development of Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as supporting integration processes and promote convergence.
