The incumbent is one of six NIV Visa Assistants providing the full range of visa services to approximately 40,000 NIV applicants per year from the 13 countries and territories in the consular district and third country nationals.  Daily work includes applicant intake, visa printing, and the in-processing and return of applicant passports via courier. Communicates with the public about NIV processes. Visa assistants carry-out responsible, detail specific duties in accordance with U.S. Immigration law to assist consular Officers in timely adjudication of visa applications.  The work is done independently and as part of a static or ad-hoc teams.  Refers only unusual, complex, or questionable cases to the LE supervisor or Consular Officer.  Customer attention is a priority in the delivery of quality service. Incumbent will also be fully trained in Special Citizen Services (SCS) for American Citizens and will be expected to provide support in the event of a hurricane or other disaster in the consular district requiring the evacuations of Americans.  Incumbent also travel one or two times per year to one more of the islands in the consular district to conduct routine ACS outreach and accept passport applications from Americans.
