The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has congratulated Dominica on its thirty-seventh Anniversary of Independence.

Dominicans celebrate on Tuesday 3 November 2015 under the theme “Rebuilding Dominica Together.”. CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, in a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit said the theme was most apt, given the recent extensive devastation by Tropical Storm Erika. He said it reflects the commitment of Mr. Skerrit’s Government to work with all Dominicans in the reconstruction process.
Ambassador LaRocque noted Dominica’s continuing commitment to regional integration and keen sense of the value of the Caribbean Community. He cited as a fine example of this, the country’s decision to accept the Caribbean Court of Justice as its final appellate court.

“Honourable Prime Minister:
On behalf of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), I extend warmest congratulations to the Government and People of the Commonwealth of Dominica on the occasion of the Thirty-Seventh Anniversary of your Independence.
The theme chosen for this Anniversary, “Rebuilding Dominica Together”, is most apt given the recent extensive devastation by tropical storm Erika. It most certainly reflects the commitment of the Government under your leadership to work with all Dominicans in the reconstruction process.
Dominica’s progress through the last 37 years as an Independent nation is a result of the on-going hard work of nation building which has produced impressive advances towards the achievement of sustainable development.
Dominica’s commitment to regional integration and keen sense of the value of our Community has been demonstrated continuously, a fine example of which has been the decision to accept the Caribbean Court of Justice as its final appellate Court.
CARICOM joins the Government and People of Dominica in celebrating this Thirty-Seventh Anniversary of Independence and extends best wishes for the continued progress and sustainable development of the country.”
