Haiti to discuss Challenges and Opportunities in CARICOM

As Haiti gears up to host its fellow CARICOM member countries for the 29th Inter-Sessional Meeting on the 26 -27 February, the country’s Ministry of Trade will stage a Public Forum on Friday to discuss “Integration of Haiti in CARICOM: Challenges and Opportunities”.

The Forum, to be attended by a wide cross section of the Haitian society, will address a number of trade and integration matters, including trade requirements, the demand in the Caribbean market for goods and services, technical and academic cooperation, investment opportunities, transport infrastructure, and best practices of Haitian companies exporting to CARICOM countries.

The President of Haiti and current Chairman of CARICOM, HE Jovenel Moise will address the Forum. Remarks will also be presented by CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, Haiti’s Minister of Trade Mr. Pierre Marie Dumeny, and Representative of the Private Sector Mr. Bernard Craan.

The Forum will be held at the Marriott Hotel in Port-au-Prince from 6:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m. ECT) and will be broadcast live on Television and Radio in Haiti, and streamed live on CARICOM Today –  http://today.caricom.org/ and the CARICOM Face Book page – https://www.facebook.com/caricom.org/

Haiti officially assumed membership of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in 2002. President Moise began his six month Chairmanship on 1 January 2018.
