Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Trade, the Hon. Ricardo Cabrisas will lead his country’s delegation of public and private sector officials to the Caribbean-Cuba Trade and Investment Symposium to be held in Guyana on November 20-21.
A trade exhibition of Cuban products will be mounted at Le Meridien Pegasus during the Symposium and more than 20 Cuban companies have indicated they will participate. The Symposium, hosted by the government of Guyana takes place immediately after the CARICOM/Cuba Joint Commission’s Fifth Meeting on November 18-19 in Georgetown and is being held with the assistance of the CARICOM Secretariat and the Caribbean Export Development Agency (CEDA). Guyana’s Minister of Trade and Industry, the Hon. Michael Shree Chan will deliver the feature address at the opening of the Symposium.
Accompanying Mr Cabrisas will be the deputy Minister of Foreign Investment and Economic Co-operation, Mr Raul Taladrid, the Director of Transportation and Insurance in the Ministry of Foreign Trade, Mr Daniel Hung and the deputy Director for Latin America and the Caribbean in the Ministry of Foreign Trade, Dr Fernando Suarez Murias. The Secretary of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce Ms Marta Camacho and the General Manager for the Region of the National Bank of Cuba, Ms Amelia Lima Amador will be part of the private sector delegation.
The symposium will cover topics such as the CARICOM Single Market and Economy, Cuba’s Legal and Policy Framework for Trade , Procedures and Licensing Requirements to Operate in Cuba, Investment and Export Opportunities, Transportation, the Banking System in Cuba and an update on the CEDA’s Private Sector Trade Facilitation Office in Cuba.
