BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Advocate – As various states across the United States legalise the use of medicinal marijuana, and others debate its benefits, it appears that Barbados might not be entirely immune from the discussion. This, as sources within the island’s Ministry of Health revealed to the Barbados Advocate recently that at the “highest level”, the use of medicinal marijuana to treat pain, cancer and sickle cell treatment was being discussed. The question was raised following a recent Barbados Drug Service Lecture at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, which examined Sickle Cell Disease – Compli¬cations and Their Treat¬ments.
