CARICOM SG receives new CCJ President for Courtesy Visit

The Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Dr. Carla Barnett, warmly welcomed the new President of the Caribbean Court of Justice, the Hon. Mr Justice Winston Anderson, for a courtesy visit on Wednesday 15 October at the CARICOM Headquarters in Georgetown, Guyana. The Hon. Mr Justice Anderson previously served as General Counsel at the CARICOM Secretariat (2003–2006), making his return to the organisation in his new role, a special one. The Secretary-General and President discussed ways to strengthen collaboration and interaction between the Court and the Secretariat, in the pursuit of regional integration, bearing in mind the specific roles of each organisation.

Accompanying the CCJ President were Gabrielle Figaro-Jones, Registrar and Chief Marshal, and Marlon Prince, Administrative Officer to the President.

Justice Lisa Shoman, General Counsel, and Ambassador Janice Miller, Chef de Cabinet at the CARICOM Secretariat, also participated in this meeting.

The CCJ serves as the Region’s judicial tribunal. It was established on 14 February 2001 by the Agreement Establishing the Caribbean Court of Justice. Learn more via: ccj.org
