(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) – Ms. Elizabeth Solomon, Assistant Secretary-General for the Directorate of Foreign and Community Relations, on Sunday held discussions with H.E. Dr. Christophe Eick, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to CARICOM.
The talks were held ahead of the 47th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government in St. George’s, Grenada.
During the discussions, the German Ambassador indicated his country’s continuous support for the Community on climate change.
He acknowledged the role of CARICOM and the Eminent Persons Group (EPG) in promoting political stability in Haiti through the establishment of the Transitional Presidential Council, and reaffirmed Germany’s support.
ASG Solomon and Ambassador Eick also discussed the progress on a Memorandum of Understanding between CARICOM and Germany to establish a formal mechanism of diplomatic cooperation.
