CARICOM CHAIRMAN CONFIDENT SINGLE MARKET SCHEDULE ON TARGET(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)  Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Hon. Patrick Manning, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, has expressed optimism that mechanisms will be in place for the full “consummation” of the CARICOM Single Market by 30 June, 2006.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Hon. Patrick Manning, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, has expressed optimism that mechanisms will be in place for the full “consummation” of the CARICOM Single Market by 30 June, 2006. Addressing staff of the CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana, the CARICOM Chairman said the full participation of CARICOM Member States in the CARICOM Single Market was paramount to the advancement of the integration movement, which he declared “alive and well.” Prime Minister Manning said that equally important to the CARICOM Single Market was the operation of the regional Development Fund which he said “should be finalized” during the Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government, 3-6 July, in Saint Kitts and Nevis. Shortly before his departure for Suriname. the second of his two-country mission today, and brief consultations with President of Suriname, H.E Runaaldo Ronald Venetiaan, Mr. Manning briefed the media. He described his meeting with President Jagdeo of Guyana just over an hour earlier as “very useful”, as they focused on issues pertaining to crime and security and Guyana’s upcoming elections. On elections, he said, “The Community looks forward to the successful staging of elections in Guyana in accordance with constitutional requirements.” On Friday 16 June, The Chairman undertakes a similar Mission; this time to Jamaica and Belize
