CARIBBEAN-US FORUM LEAD ACTIVITY IN GUYANA

The Secretariats of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Caribbean Forum (CARIFORUM) will play host to a delegation from the Dominican Republic in Guyana as a lead activity to the Caribbean-US Forum on Trade and Investment which is scheduled to take place in the Dominican Republic 16-18 March 1999.

The delegation from the Dominican Republic will, on Friday 29 January 1999 have a series of meetings with officials from both the private and public sectors in Guyana as well as with the Deputy Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community, Dr. Carla Barnett.

The team from the Dominican Republic is comprised of Dr. Angel Canto, Legal Counsel to the Secretary of Commerce of the Dominican Republic and senior members of the Forum’s organising Committee, Ms Joycelyn Sanchez and Mr Gabriel Guzman.

The Forum is one of the primary activities to come out of the 1997 Caribbean-US Summit which brought together the US, Member States of the CARICOM, as well as Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

In addition to their meetings in Guyana, the delegation from the Dominican Republic will host a press conference. This will take place on Friday 29 January 1999 at 3:30p.m. at the CARICOM Secretariat. The media are invited to attend.
