A range of issues on the establishment of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) will be discussed tonight as the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat in association with the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU) presents a special live talk show on the CCJ. The one hour broadcast airs on Thursday 6 April 2000 from 9-10 PM (Eastern Caribbean time)
The panel for the television programme is headed by the Chairman of the Preparatory Committee on the CCJ and Attorney General of Barbados, Mr David Simmons. He will be joined on the set by CARICOM’s General Counsel Mr Duke Pollard and on telephone by the Attorney’s General of Jamaica and Saint. Lucia Mr. Arnold J Nicholson and Mr. Petrus Comptom, respectively.
The moderator for the programme is the veteran broadcaster Julian Rogers.
The Committee which Mr Simmons heads was set up by the CARICOM Heads of Government in July 1999 with a mandate to focus on the range of issues associated with the establishment of the CCJ. Among those issues is that of a Public Education Programme to ensure that the people of the Region are informed and educated about the Court. The broadcast is an integral part of the Public Education Programme
