Experts from the health sector across the Caribbean Community will discuss health matters, particularly as they relate to the CARICOM Single Market and Economy at two meetings during the period 26-29 March in Kingston, Jamaica.
On 26 and 27 March, the regional body, the Caribbean Association of Medical Councils (CAMC), will deliberate on its proposed constitution among other matters. At a workshop on Domestic Regulations on 28 and 29 March, representatives of this body will be joined by experts from the dental, pharmacy, veterinary and nursing sectors to consider, and possibly agree on proposed Draft Domestic Regulations to govern the provision of services by professions from the health sector within the CARICOM Single Market and Economy.
The main objective of these meetings is to put in place common licensing requirements and procedures, and common registration procedures to protect consumers, and to set up transparent systems to facilitate trade in the professional services in the health sector by non-CARICOM service providers.
The CAMC Meeting will take place at the Jamaica Pegasus, and the Workshop on Domestic Regulations at the Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO).
These activities are part of a programme to put in place domestic regulations for the provision of all services within the CSME by 1 January 2006.
