(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) I am honoured to be here today for my presentation of credentials. It is indeed a great privilege to represent the Government of Japan to the esteemed institution of the Caribbean Community Secretariat.
I have further the honour to convey to Your Excellency, the sincere best wishes of Mr. Koichiro Gemba, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, for the promotion of friendly relations between Japan and the CARICOM Secretariat.
On this special occasion, I wish to express my sincere gratitude to Your Excellency for the Secretariat’s invaluable co-operation extended to Japan in the international arena. I am firmly resolved to do my best to fulfil my important mission and provide all possible means for the development of CARICOM countries. I intend to vigorously follow-up on the outcome to the economic mission from Japan in November last year, which sought to boost relations between Japan and CARICOM. I also anticipate further co-operation and strengthening of ties between Japan and CARICOM member states at this year’s Japan-CARICOM Consultation Meeting.
In conclusion, I would like to express my heartfelt wishes for the continued good health and success of Your Excellency, and the increasing success of the CARICOM Secretariat as a pillar of regional and international co-operation.
Thank you very much.
