Second Protocol to the Trade and Economic Agreement between The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and The Government of the Republic of Cuba Georgetown, Guyana, 9 November 2017

Objective

The objective of the Protocol is to give effect to amendments to the Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement specifically: 1. The inclusion of the new reciprocal market access commitments that will apply between CARICOM and Cuba; 2. Improvements to the language of the Rules of Origin, with regard to what constitutes insufficient working and processing, verification or origin, and the legal obligations of the Parties in circumstances when a request for verification of origin has been made; and 3. The establishment of the Contact Points to facilitate communication between the Parties, inter alia, trade barriers, new trade and investment opportunities.
