CARICOM

Regional Digital Resilience

Due to their inherent environmental, economic, and social vulnerabilities as Small Island and Low Lying Coastal Developing States (SIDS), CARICOM Member States have placed strong emphasis on digital development.

The CARICOM Secretariat is accelerating efforts toward a Single ICT Space to leverage Information and Communication Technologies as drivers of regional socio-economic development. Addressing the digital divide, security threats, cyber risks, and environmental impacts is critical to those efforts. Attention must be paid to equitable connectivity, robust security measures, and collaborative responses to cyber safety and inclusivity in the digital era.

CARICOM Digital Dialogue, May 2020

CARICOM countries have made significant progress in the digital realm. As cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) develop, the Single ICT Space becomes more critical to ensure the Community keeps up with the rapid pace of digital development within the global sphere.

Heads of Government will tackle these issues when they meet for the 47th Regular Meeting of the Conference from 3-5 July 2024 in St. George’s, Grenada. Prime Minister of Grenada, the Hon. Dickon Mitchell, Lead Head of Government in the CARICOM Quasi Cabinet for Science and Technology (including Information and Communications), will assume duties as Chair of the Conference and the Meeting.
The Meeting will discuss strategic digital priorities including integrating digital transformation initiatives into key productive sectors, access to ICTs, youth involvement as digital leaders, and opportunities to amplify the voice of CARICOM in the global arena, including the United Nations Summit on the Future to be held in September 2024.
